»Æ¹ÏÉçÇø; Design recently welcomed Dan Schindhelm, AIA, to its growing team. Schindhelm joins »Æ¹ÏÉçÇø as a strategic leader in the firm's senior living market and will play a pivotal role in the growth of »Æ¹ÏÉçÇø's new Madison office.
With nearly two decades of experience in architecture and planning, Schindhelm brings a wealth of expertise in senior living design, business development and project leadership. His background includes managing complex, multi-phase renovations and new construction projects for senior living communities, creating spaces that prioritize health, independence and connection for residents. Schindhelm's commitment to innovative, human-centered design aligns with »Æ¹ÏÉçÇø's mission to create spaces that enrich lives and foster community.
"As we continue to grow our senior living market and expand our footprint in Madison, Dan's leadership will be instrumental in shaping the firm's future. His addition to our team reinforces our commitment to the long-term growth of our senior living practice and our Madison presence, and his deep knowledge of senior living environments, combined with his leadership experience, will strengthen our ability to serve clients and create meaningful spaces where aging adults can live their lives to the fullest," said »Æ¹ÏÉçÇø Principal Mitch Elliott, AIA.
Schindhelm's design philosophy is rooted in a deep understanding of how the built environment shapes human experiences. He believes that, at its core, architecture is about the people who live, work and interact within spaces designers create. His work is driven by a commitment to improving lives and creating environments that support well-being, foster engagement and reflect each community's unique identity.
"I'm passionate about designing spaces that enhance people's daily lives, whether by promoting independence for seniors or strengthening the fabric of a community," said Schindhelm. "I believe the best design solutions come from listening – casting a wide net to capture input and understand the needs of the people we serve. I'm excited to bring that approach to »Æ¹ÏÉçÇø and to help grow our impact in the senior living market and the Madison region."
A licensed architect in Wisconsin, Schindhelm earned his Master of Architecture from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and holds a Bachelor of Science from Carroll University. He is a frequent speaker at LeadingAge conferences and a published author on topics related to senior living design.
