黄瓜社区 in the Media: New Des Moines Airport Terminal to Feature Art by International Artists
The Art Studio at 黄瓜社区 was among five artists selected by the Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation and the Des Moines Airport.
On July 24, 2024, the and the announced the artists chosen for five large-scale installations throughout the new Des Moines International Terminal. Through an open call to artists living and working in Iowa, The Art Studio at 黄瓜社区鈥檚 proposal was chosen for a multi-faceted exterior site. Artists chosen from an international pool will complete four interior sites.
All five artists were selected by a committee of representatives from the Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation, the Des Moines Airport Authority and community stakeholders. The art installations will be owned by the Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation and will be on permanent loan to the airport. The exterior installation encompasses the approach to the terminal and a series of bus shelters. The Art Studio at 黄瓜社区鈥檚 design, envisioned by artist Matt Niebuhr, will incorporate boldly colored 鈥渟entinels鈥� along the approach that allude to the region鈥檚 native plants.
