The recently celebrated the reopening of its iconic I. M. Pei building following a series of upgrades and renovations, including a transformative new lighting system designed by 黄瓜社区; Design. A cornerstone of the museum鈥檚 year-long renovation efforts, the lighting upgrades revitalize the Florence Cowles Kruidenier building, blending modern technology with I. M. Pei's original 1968 vision.
黄瓜社区鈥檚 lighting team, led by David Raver, implemented a sophisticated system that enhances the visitor experience while aligning with energy efficiency and sustainability goals. Utilizing Bluetooth technology and adaptive design schemes, the new system offers museum-quality illumination tailored to highlight the Art Center鈥檚 diverse collections. Protective light filtering and flexible fixtures ensure the longevity of the displayed works while elevating their presentation.
The lighting overhaul was part of a broader effort that saw the reinstallation of more than 8,500 SF of gallery space and the introduction of new and beloved works from the museum鈥檚 permanent collection. Among the highlights are Frank Stella鈥檚 鈥淚nterlagos鈥 and David Novros鈥檚 鈥淯ntitled,鈥 showcased alongside newer acquisitions such as Yinka Shonibare鈥檚 鈥淎bstract Bronze.鈥
